Celebrate Your Strengths

Stacy Taubman

While we are always told to own our strengths, women often hold back for fear of sounding too proud. Our guest this week on the video blog, Amanda Stanec, has the amazing ability to celebrate her successes in a way that draws you in and encourages you to work that much harder toward your own goals.

Amanda Stanec's company  MoveLiveLearn works to normalize healthy and active living through a social justice lens. In her interview, Amanda reminds us that in order to be our best selves, we should not seek out praise, but instead work hard and be happy with our efforts.

Own Your Story

Stacy Taubman

How well do you take a compliment? Many of us struggle with this and owning our strengths.

We explore this topic more in this week's video blog episode with our guest Aimee Dunne, Founder of Navigating Networks and Director of Prosper Institute. Aimee also shares with us her insights on becoming an entrepreneur, defining your brand, and how to banish imposter syndrome.

We hope you enjoyed this episode! Leave a comment below sharing something that spoke to you from this video.

The Best of Both Worlds

Stacy Taubman

Who says your dream has to encompass just one passion.  So often we have many things that we are good at or love doing, but the career paths that we know about don't seem to include our different talents.

Well this week's episode of GDB's Video Blog Series is here to show you that you don't always have to choose.  We highlight an impressive woman who has a career that beautifully blends psychology with business.  Dana Fromm-Borchert earned a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (don't worry if your not 100% sure what that means - she explains more about it in the video) and then went on to get an amazing job as Senior Consultant at CMA.  It is not surprising to us that in 2012 she was featured in the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the 30 under 30.

Check out the video below to learn more and here some good advice from Dana on how to find a mentor.

Video Blog Episode 4: Paula Collins

Stacy Taubman

Welcome back to the fourth episode of Girls Dreaming Big's Video Blog series. This week we interviewed Paula Collins, owner of Your Closet's Best Friend and regular contributor to Great Day St. Louis. Paula, a wardrobe consultant, talks about her inspiration for her company, what it takes to find courage, and how the SemiColon Project can make an impact on teen's lives. To learn more about the SemiColon project and the importance of pauses along your journey visit TheSemicolonproject.com.

We hope you enjoyed the episode and would love for you to share with your friends!

We are having so much fun with our new video blog series! Although we still have room to improve and grow, we are loving the women we are talking with.  Angela Lewis, director of Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship, has such contagious energy and shares with us everything from how to set boundaries, turning your differences into strengths, and how to achieve your dreams.

We want to hear from you! Do you have a woman we should interview.  Comment below and tell us about her.

Video Blog Episode 2: Jocelyn Seagrave

Stacy Taubman

Thank you to all who tuned in to our video blog kickoff last week! We are loving this project and hope you are too.  This week we are featuring the very talented Jocelyn Seagrave. You may have seen her on shows such as Guiding Light and Charmed.  We'd love to hear what you thought and be sure to share with your friends!

Video Blog Kickoff!!

Stacy Taubman

We are thrilled to kick off our new video blog series featuring impressive women and their stories.  When Founder/CEO, Stacy Taubman, started GDB she began interviewing smart, strong, successful women and realized their stories were incredible.  She would leave the interviews so motivated and inspired.  We decided it was time to get these women on camera for you.  There is power in their stories and we want you to see all the different paths there are.

Keep in mind this is a new project and we are learning and growing as we go. Stacy still gets rather nervous to be on camera, but feels it's important to push past your fears and own your "imperfections".  Our first guest, Naretha Hopson, is a dynamic and strong women who you will definitely enjoy hearing from.  Please share with your friends and let us know what you thought.

Part 2 :)

The One Thing I Wish I Knew Before Going to College...

Stacy Taubman

As the school year comes to a close, I find myself in a state of reflection.  I truly believe it is important to not only look back, but also to share what you have learned.  When you are young it is so hard to see beyond the here and now. I asked a ton of impressive women of all ages to complete the sentence, "The one thing I wish I knew before going to college...."

Below are the wonderful answers I received and I hope they help you as you move forward in your journey:
